Cathedral oiled oak (Skye)

Cathedral oiled Oak (Arran) is a very fashionable silver grey floor similar to Skye but without the brushing giving it more of a cloudy/ driftwood effect. The finish is achieved by fuming to create a reactive colour change before applying various colour oils and then two coats of clear finishing oil applied. This finish will change colour over time due to the effects of natural ultraviolet light. You will get light and dark tones within individual boards and from one board to another. Over time as the boards mellow down this becomes less apparent. This is a light tone floor. Regular cleaning using soap-wash and the use of a 5% white maintenance oil when required should keep this floor looking good for years to come. If you use clear oil it will send the floor more to a caramel sheen looking more like the darker tone Skye floor.
