Guarantee
We are very proud of our flooring and are pleased to say that we offer a 15 year wear and delaminating guarantee.
This guarantee is valid providing your floor is fitted and maintained according to our fitting instructions. These can be found on www.cathedralflooring.com. Subject to Winchester Hardwood Wholesale Limited's Terms and Conditions of Manufacture and Sale. The guarantee is valid for the original purchaser only.
Cathedral Engineered flooring features a 6mm surface layer of oak and an 11 layer 15mm multiply base board. This is tongue and grooved on all four edges for easy fitting and minimal waste. We believe that due to this construction it is probably one of the most stable flooring products on the market that you can buy.
Its construction reduces the risk of surface cracks and movement under the influence of changing temperature and humidity and is far more stable than that of other engineered or solid floor. Due to its 6mm wear layer it has the same life span as a solid board (you can only wear a solid floor down to the tongue and then it will expose the fixings) and will take many re-sandings.
Prior to installation the floor should be laid flat and stored it in its packaging for at least 48 hours in the room in which it is to be laid.
The room or rooms should be maintained at a constant atmospheric environment. The room should be 20 to 22C and have a relative humidity of 40 - 55%. In the event that the air humidity falls lower than this it is advisable to use an air humidifier to prevent the flooring from drying out. If this is not done you are increasing the risk of cracks and general shrinkage/expansion.
If Cathedral Flooring is fitted correctly then the floor will eventually reach an equilibrium within the room. This is where the temperature and relative humidity levels are maintained within a fairly consistent range and movement of the floor will be minimal.
If you have problems with your floor in the future either from expansion or shrinkage it is more than likely due to the fact that these narrow ranges have been changed. i.e. the heating has been turned off completely for a period of time and then turned back on to a normal room temperature in one go. The cumulative effect of these actions will cause unnecessary stresses to the floor.
Cathedral Flooring has been proved to work with underfloor heating. Unfortunately a guarantee can not be offered for its use in this situation due to reasons which are beyond the control of the supplier and fitter. If a dispute arises there is no reliable way of recording or monitoring the under floor heating system settings or room conditions over a period of time. Because of this it is impossible to prove or disprove how the system had been used or abused by the customer.
In practice there will always be some minor movement within all flooring as it settles into its new environment. Small gaps and cracks cannot be completely avoided. Wood is a natural hygroscopic material.
